The wool for this rug comes from New Zealand, where mulesing has never been part of the sheep keeping culture. In addition, the rights of the animals are protected by the law.
Tested by Institut für Ökologie, Technik und Innovation GmbH (ÖTI) in Austria. The 100% wool rug has been assigned with fire behaviour classification Cfl-s1. This means that it meets requirements presented to hotels and other public spaces.
The Artist and the Artwork
The artwork for this rug is based on our favourite painting by Lina Sasnauskaitė, an artist from Kaunas, Lithuania. She usually works as a book illustrator, author, and designer. Between books, she sometimes fills a canvas with wonderful art that deeply touches our hearts.
We love how this artwork activates a kind of hypnotic perception flicker – a half-asleep serene being becoming an idyllic landscape, back and forth. It presents two possibilities of vision and guarantees at least a couple of philosophical thoughts for you.
We asked Lina to translate this artwork into a rug design, opening up an an additional way of experiencing this landscape-act – through the sense of touch.
